
Cyber Security Specialist
Job Description
At Rootstack, we are looking for a Cyber Security Specialist with strong experience securing Microsoft 365 and Azure environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for protecting client systems, data, and cloud infrastructure, ensuring the implementation of best practices across security operations, compliance, monitoring, and incident response. This role requires a strong cloud-security mindset, since the client operates in a fully cloud-based environment with no on-premise systems, leveraging platforms such as AWS, Heroku, Microsoft 365, Azure, and Cisco Meraki.

- Proven experience in cybersecurity, with a strong focus on Microsoft 365 and Azure environments
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft 365 security features, including Azure Active Directory, Exchange Online Protection, and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint
- Hands-on experience with Azure security services such as Azure Security Center, Azure Sentinel, and Azure Information Protection
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and compliance frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and GDPR
- Strong networking skills, especially for supporting organizational needs through the Cisco Meraki platform
- Experience defining and implementing cybersecurity strategies, policies, and procedures
- Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CCSP are a plus

- Develop and implement cybersecurity strategies, policies, and procedures to protect systems, data, and cloud infrastructure
- Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests to identify and mitigate risks
- Monitor security logs and alerts to detect and respond to incidents in a timely manner
- Collaborate with internal teams and clients to design and implement security controls, configurations, and best practices for Microsoft 365 and Azure environments
- Provide guidance to clients on cybersecurity best practices, compliance requirements, and incident response procedures
- Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies, and recommend improvements to strengthen security posture
- Participate in security audits, compliance reviews, and risk assessments to ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Contribute to the development and delivery of cybersecurity awareness and training programs for internal teams and clients
- Oversee security practices and methods used by the software engineering team working in AWS environments
- Support the organization’s Cisco Meraki network and connectivity needs across engineering resources
