Platform Engineer
Job Description
At Rootstack, we are looking for a Platform / Data Engineer with strong experience in Azure, observability, and telemetry, particularly with hands-on expertise in OpenTelemetry. The selected candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining observability pipelines, working with cloud infrastructure, and ensuring the secure management and protection of telemetry data. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background in platform or data engineering, cloud environments, and production-grade observability solutions.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, or Data Engineering.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience working with Microsoft Azure.
- 2+ years of experience building observability and telemetry pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry.
- Strong knowledge of OTLP, OpenTelemetry Collectors, Spans, Traces, and Semantic Conventions.
- Experience working with Azure technologies such as: Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Container Apps, Azure API Management, Application Insights, Azure Data Explorer / Kusto, ADLS Gen2 / Blob Storage, Azure Key Vault and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Experience with Python or Node.js and Bash.
- Knowledge of RBAC, private networking, and auditing.
- Experience handling PII and secrets, including redaction, tokenization, and regex-based scrubbing.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in cloud and production environments.
- Availability to work remotely from Colombia.
- English level: C1 or higher.
