About the Client
A financial institution sought to modernize its online banking platform to better meet customer expectations and accelerate digital adoption. The organization required a technology partner with expertise in high-availability banking platforms, microservices architectures, and user-centered digital experience design.
Leveraging its experience in financial technology modernization, Rootstack integrated modern technologies with the bank’s existing systems, ensuring a seamless transformation without disrupting day-to-day operations.
Challenge
The bank’s online banking portal was built on a traditional architecture that no longer provided the performance, usability, or convenience customers expected. Navigation was cumbersome, response times were slow, and many routine banking operations still required customers to visit a physical branch, limiting digital channel adoption and increasing the operational burden on branch staff.
The institution needed to modernize the platform by improving usability, simplifying common financial transactions, increasing online banking adoption, and maintaining the high security standards required to protect sensitive customer information.
Our Solutions
Rootstack led the complete redesign of the online banking platform, combining a modern UX/UI strategy with a scalable microservices-based architecture. The new responsive portal was optimized for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices, delivering a more intuitive navigation experience while reducing the number of steps required to complete common banking operations.
The solution introduced a comprehensive set of transactional capabilities, including account inquiries, transfers, bill payments, card management, beneficiary administration, and transaction history, all securely connected to the bank’s core systems through APIs. Rootstack also implemented a decoupled architecture with microservices, a dedicated Backend for Frontend (BFF) for the web channel, and an API Gateway to centralize service management and simplify future integrations.
To ensure long-term scalability and security, the platform incorporated OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect (OIDC) for authentication and authorization and was deployed on AWS or Azure cloud infrastructure. This modern technology foundation enables the bank to support continued growth in digital users while maintaining high availability and operational efficiency.
