Our cliente is a fintech company specializing in the purchase and sale of customer invoices, enabling users to buy and settle outstanding financial obligations. Because of the sensitive financial data it manages, the company operates under strict security, availability, and operational control requirements.
Plataform selected Rootstack to lead the modernization of its technology ecosystem and pilot a compliance-first development methodology designed for highly regulated environments. The initiative focused on modernizing legacy systems while preserving operational stability and meeting rigorous security standards.
The project required modernizing and optimizing a mission-critical fintech platform while maintaining strict ISO compliance and security controls. The development environment was highly restricted, preventing direct access to the source code repository and infrastructure, which meant all work had to be executed through authorized workflows and client-approved commands.
Additional challenges included modernizing a distributed microservices architecture, upgrading multiple Django-based services, migrating APIs and databases from PostgreSQL to MySQL, and ensuring data integrity and operational continuity throughout the transformation. The project demanded a careful balance between technological innovation, regulatory compliance, and uninterrupted business operations.
Rootstack implemented a comprehensive modernization strategy based on microservices, following a secure development model tailored for controlled and compliance-driven environments. The team worked within the client’s managed virtual infrastructure using restricted access policies, Docker containers, and authorized workflows, ensuring every development activity complied with the organization’s security and governance requirements.
The solution included refactoring existing microservices to improve maintainability, scalability, and performance while reducing accumulated technical debt. Rootstack also upgraded multiple Django services to newer framework versions, modernized legacy dependencies, and migrated API endpoints into a more structured and maintainable architecture.
To complete the modernization, Rootstack designed and executed a secure database migration strategy from PostgreSQL to MySQL, using custom migration scripts and comprehensive validation processes to preserve data integrity and minimize operational risks. The result was a modern, scalable, and secure fintech platform capable of supporting future growth while maintaining high levels of operational stability and compliance.
